Civil Rights Attorney Bro. Charles Coleman, Jr. Talks on Hot 97 Radio Station

Civil Rights Trial Attorney Charles F. Coleman Jr. appeared on Hot 97's "Street Soldiers" on Trayvon Martin Trial

NEW YORK (July  11, 2013)-- Civil rights trial attorney Bro. Charles F. Coleman Jr. was featured on Sunday (7/14/13) edition of Hot 97's (FM 97.1, WQHT) "Street Soldiers" Sunday morning talk show. Coleman will be speaking about the George Zimmerman criminal trial currently taking place in Sanford, FL. Zimmerman is on trial for the February 2012 murder of 17-yr. old Trayvon Martin. Coleman addressed the case from the perspective of a former prosecuting attorney.

A seasoned trial attorney, Bro. Coleman began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County District Attorney's Office in Brooklyn, NY. While there, he prosecuted several types of criminal offenses, and also worked in the specialized gangs unit where he handled cases involving more serious violent crimes. Attorney Bro. Coleman presently works as a federal trial attorney in the civil rights arena, specializing in equal employment opportunity law. His cases have been featured on the Huffington Post, MSNBC.com, Law360.com, and in the National Law Journal. He has also been featured on the Toni and Griff radio show in Atlanta, GA (AM 1100, WWWE).

From the outset of the case, Bro. Coleman has been vocal about the search for justice for Trayvon Martin and his family.

"The case against George Zimmerman has featured a substantial amount of legal maneuvering," Coleman said. "Everyone from casual observers to those who haven't missed a second of the trial has had questions about strategies, rulings, and how the case is going. It is important to understand what is going on and how that impacts the overall trial. This is a defendant who profiled, targeted, and pursued Trayvon Martin, and in his own actions as a rouge vigilante, ultimately caused the untimely death of an unarmed, innocent black teenager."

In addition to his passion for civil rights Bro. Coleman is an active member of his community as a current board member of Community Board No. 3 in Brooklyn, the chair of the criminal justice committee of the Brooklyn Branch of the NAACP, as well as the District Counselor for Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity, Inc.'s 2nd District. Coleman is an experienced motivational speaker and frequently talks to groups of young people on the importance of choices, leadership and hard work.

Hot 97 is New York City's No.1 rated station for hip hop and R&B music programming, reaching millions of listeners in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut areas. Street Soldiers is the station's weekly talk show featuring host Lisa Evers, where guests and callers discuss prevalent issues ranging from police brutality and racial profiling to politics and civil rights.

The hour long live broadcast was aired at 9:00 a.m. on 7/14/13 on 97.1 FM in New York City. The broadcast will also be live streamed through the station's website at www.hot97.com and can be heard on both android and iOS enabled smart phones through the iheart radio app.

For additional information or to book Coleman for a speaking engagement, please visit, www.charlescolemanjr.com.

Bro. Charles Coleman, Jr. Featured in Ebony

Brothers,

Please join me in congratulating Brother Charles Coleman, 2nd District Counselor on being included in the June 2013 edition of EBONY Magazine along with his Father.

K. Woodhouse

Brothers, If you have a chance and are so inclined, please pick up the June 2013 issue of EBONY magazine. Mary Mary is on the cover. Ebony focused on black father hood in this issue and a feature on stylish father-son duos entitled "Father Knows Best."

As part of this article, Bro. Charles Coleman, Jr. and his father are featured as one of three father son duos who discuss what they've learned about style from their Dads. Though his father is not an Omega man, it is still an overall positive depiction of black father-son relationships and also an overall good look, public relation-wise for the Ques.
